I've been reading some interesting threads on LinkedIn, and it's always great to read and hear other's points of view. The post discussed the "putting down" of others to advance oneself. We work in an industry with a vast amount of personality types with different skill sets and backgrounds that can be brought to the table. It is also an extremely small industry where getting a bad name is easy, and reputation is everything. Therefore, one should never look to step on others to advance themselves or to make themselves look better. Great opportunities come with time, hard work, and at times a spot of luck with being in the right place at the right time. A position should never be gained by foul play or by getting involved in politics to the detriment of others. Long-term behaviour like this can and will likely come around and bite the individuals involved, so it's always better to support and educate those around us and give more by passing on your knowledge to those who may be less experienced. Surely presenting yourself in a professional, articulate, and intelligent manner, setting an example to those around you is the way to go? It would be great to hear other's thoughts and opinions on this....
